As a dentist, it is my responsibility to educate and guide my patients so they can make their own decisions about their oral healthcare. When I first meet with a patient, I spend time asking questions: about their dental health concerns and goals, and also about their life and how they spend their time. The better I understand who the person is, the better I can help them achieve their strongest, healthiest smile.
After I design a patient’s treatment plan, I explain the how and why of what I’m recommending. This ensures my patient develops a comprehensive understanding of their dental needs and all options for addressing their situation.
I encourage my patients to ask plenty of questions and work to instill trusting, open communication, so they feel empowered and informed through my care. As an active supporter of the LGBTQ community, I seek to create a comfortable and safe environment for all of my patients.
